CHURCH HISTORY: A NEW BEGINNING

Seeing a need, and after much prayer and discussion with his wife and best friend, Mother
Dorothy J. Pulliam, Elder M. Earl Pulliam, under the direction and guidance of the Lord, set out
to establish a Church of God in Christ in the city of Daleville, AL. The Lord opened a door for him at 203-C Daleville Avenue in the form of a four-room store dwelling. It was there that Light of the World Ministries was established on January 14, 1990.

On the opening day of service, the message came from Genesis 1:3-4, John 8:12, Matthew 5:15
and was entitled “We are the Light of the World;” epitomizing the purpose of establishing this
church---to be a light in the Wiregrass area.

The Lord has been blessing our church tremendously since that day! Souls have been and still are being saved and delivered, broken hearts have been mended, marriages have been salvaged, liberty in Christ has come to many who were bound, and bread has been broken through the fellowshipping of Saints.

Because this is a military community, saints, and trustworthy members are a must.
God has not failed us in this area. From Evangelist Carol Choyce, who has been with Light of the World since its inception, to our newest members, we have been tremendously blessed with willing, dependable Saints.

The church had grown a great deal, praise God! So much by the end of our first year, we had to
secure a larger building for worship. God once again approved our efforts and blessed us to move to a new home at 188 Robert C. Barnes Street. It took a lot of work but after much
dedication and laughter from the Saints, our new home was ready.

We moved to the location on
December 23, 1990. The congregation marched in singing “Step by step, we’ll make this journey even though the way seems hard…but we must put our trust in God.” Here we are at our new home that the Lord blessed us with. Light of the World Ministries moved to its present location on February 18, 2002, again singing “Step by Step.” The building dedication was July 13, 2002, at 2 P.M. by Bishop Philip A. Gardner, our Jurisdictional Prelate from Mobile, Alabama.

It can honestly be said that we have encountered no major obstacles. As with anything, we have experienced a few “growing pains” but we continue to “Walk by faith and not by sight”
believing, as stated in Psalms 37:23 that “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and
he delighted in his way.”

We, the Pastor and the members of Light of the World Ministries, Church of God in Christ, love
the Lord, and pleasing Him is uppermost in our hearts and minds. Your prayers and support have meant so much to us. Please continue to pray for us and believe us when we say “Every round goes higher and higher!"
